Would you like some resources to teach and/or review your Virginia Studies content? Then this post if for you! I'm Heather from Beg, Borrow, and Teach!, and I'm sharing my favorite resources for the following: SOL review, the Civil War, the American Revolution, and a FREEBIE that focuses on abolitionists and the formation of West Virginia.
Virginia Studies SOL Review and Grammar Correction
This PDF takes the language of the SOLs and turns it into questions. Each question has several grammar mistakes that need to be corrected. I love to use this during Language Arts so it can serve as writing assignment and a Virginia Studies review. It includes an answer key to make the activity self-checking.
Major Civil War Battles of Virginia Map
This PDF shows the three major Civil War battles that happened in Virginia: 1st Battle of Manassass, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads. It also gives details such as leaders, winners, and losers of each battle and end of the Civil War. There is an answer key chart with the organized information included.
Patrick Henry Readers Theater
Are you teaching about the American Revolution and/or reviewing for your history SOL? Here's an activity that incorporates reading, cooperative learning, and Virginia Studies/U.S. History!
FREEBIE: Abolitionists and Formation of West Virginia PDF and Cloze Activity
This PDF discusses abolitionists Nat Turner and John Brown and the formation of West Virginia. It includes a Cloze activity for students to complete as they follow along.
What are your go-to review activities for the Virginia Studies SOL? I'd love to hear about them!
